Factories are noisy places. In order to hear and be heard, you need to be close to your conversation partner, pay attention, and speak loudly. However, this closeness can have some unpleasant side effects. Just like the bad breath I am often exposed to.
By the Holy Virgin! What is this, my Lord?! I can’t hear because of the smell, not the noise. I feel like my nose is going to fall off. My attention is completely distracted. It’s as if the part of my brain responsible for smell is trying to increase its surface area by spreading out to other regions to dilute the odor. These smells are literally attacking all my senses. Do you think I’m exaggerating? You’re wrong. You’re so wrong. I wish there were technology that could store the scent and apply it over these lines. Then you’d understand. Then you’d agree. Or you could go and ask any 10 people on the street to breathe on your face. Probably half of them would have the same effect on you.
I can’t even ask, “How much could a toothbrush possibly be?” because I know how much it costs. A lot! Way too much! Still, people should invest in oral health and hygiene. It’s shameful, really! For instance, I’m saving money to buy dental floss. Right now, I’m using junk food wrappers as floss. Sometimes my gums bleed, but what can I do? This economy… Ugh, never mind. There’s no point in going into this.

I think the effect of laziness is greater. Brushing once a day is enough. Before bed. The “before bed” part is important because while sleeping, saliva production decreases, and harmful bacteria start to hang around in the mouth. The purpose of brushing is to remove food particles and prevent these bacteria from multiplying.
Some people brush their teeth in the morning. An unnecessary task. Why are you brushing your empty mouth? Are you trying to mask the smell because you’re going outside? Instead, why not take care of your oral hygiene and get rid of the smell? Another reason to hate people: instead of solving a problem, they hide it, conceal it, and ignore it with temporary solutions.
The Attack on My Senses
People say that we understand each other through conversation. Under these circumstances, no agreement is possible. No matter how right they are. Don’t they get bothered by their own smells? Bad breath is not like body odor. It’s much more disturbing. There’s something rotten. Though, some people’s bodies also have a rotten smell. I don’t know. They must have killed their noses.
As a solution, mask mandates might come back. We can also communicate using sign language. Or texting. I don’t know, but this is an important issue that should be recognized and solved as soon as possible. Some may suggest staying home and not meeting people. I just say “I wish!” I wish that utopian life were real, so I could escape from everyone.
By the way, I mentioned scent technology earlier. A terrible memory came to mind. I want to end the post with it. I’m tired of ending my thoughts with the meaninglessness of expecting something from people. I said it was embarrassing, but I don’t feel embarrassed anymore. As Darwin Watterson once said, “The doctor says we’ve run out of shamosterone.” Both our own and the shame for others have drained us. Especially the shame of others. The shameless’ shames. This is how we became desensitized.
Anyway.
A Good Search Engine
It was during the years I worked in an internet café. Like any other morning, it was an ordinary day. I opened the café, cleaned up, made tea, and then sat at the computer. When I logged into the internet, dear Google browser immediately told me they had developed a new technology. “Google Nose.” The ability to transfer scents over the internet. Even through your regular monitor. It was still in beta, but they said the results were promising. I picked a scent that I could easily recognize and pressed my nose to the monitor. It didn’t work.
After a few attempts, Google asked me, “Doesn’t it work, honey?” Then it provided a very long article explaining why it didn’t work. Being a lazy fool, I just glanced at the first few lines and tried again. All of them failed. I kept getting the message, “Doesn’t it work?” with a smug smile. I tried again and again. I tried different smells. That wasn’t enough. I went to sit at different computers. I made so many attempts, I sniffed so many monitors that after a while, I started to smell things from nowhere. “They’ve probably done it!” I muttered. I don’t know why I believed so much, why I wanted it to be real. Maybe it’s because I had nothing else to do.

Are you a prankster?
Finally, I sat down and decided to properly read the long article that appeared at the end. The article explained that the reason I couldn’t smell any “real” scent was because this technology was an April Fool’s joke.
That’s when I started using DuckDuckGo. It doesn’t always find exactly what I’m looking for, but it doesn’t make unpleasant jokes, and it doesn’t steal my data. Or so they say, I don’t know.
In short, don’t believe everything you hear, and at least brush your teeth before bed. Please!
